The Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club

Di property stunning! Di grounds beautiful an so well taken care of. Di staff friendly an welcoming. Dere 4 places to get food an drink, all charge to yuh room so yuh nah have to worry 'bout carrying cash or cards. Dem have a big, gorgeous pool dat fun to hang out in, plus anoda pool just for adults. Dem offer towels to use at di pool/beach. Dere is mini golf, a shuffleboard, pickleball courts, tennis courts, a small playground, hammocks. Free parking!! Our suite spacious an had a balcony wid an ocean view an view of di pool/mini golf/grounds. Di sunrise spectacular! We had a mini fridge an a coffee maker an dem supply di coffee pods, Coffeemate an sugar. Dem have a little laundry room wid 2 washers an 3 dryers (soap is $1 from di vending machine). Dis is an absolute bonus if yuh nah want to pack dirty clothes. I have nothing bad to say 'bout Lago Mar, I adore di place. I do have a few thoughts on tings dat odda people might not like or get into a tizzy 'bout. - Iguanas an lizards everywhere so don’t be alarmed. Dem won’t hurt yuh, bother yuh, or come near yuh. Just watch where yuh step 'cause some of dem tiny. - Dem charge for beach chairs, umbrellas, an cabanas. While it would be nice if dem included, dem not so be aware! - Food, drink, an supplies can be quite expensive dere so it’s best to stock up before yuh go (snacks, water etc…) - It’s off di beaten track, but dat was a bonus for us. Yuh don’t *need* a car but if yuh want to go sightseeing or shopping it’s better to have one. Yuh can always get a Lyft, Uber or whatever if yuh don’t have a car. - Every time yuh buy something at di resort yuh sign for it an it gets charged to yuh room. Dem have a place to enter di tip amount. I know people get outraged 'bout tipping but yuh really should tip! - Di furniture in di rooms not modern. It’s a quintessential, old school Florida resort. If yuh want hip an modern, go somewhere else. If yuh want charming an classic, stay at Lago Mar. Dem know what dem doing. - Lago Mar is also a private club, so it got busy on di weekend (wid locals especially in di pool area). Go early an get a good spot!

Dis resort tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Di only reason it don’t get all 5 stars is 'cause di inflexibility when renting beach umbrella & chairs. First, yuh not allowed to take yuh own. Den dem charge di full day rate when we arrived late in di afternoon. Lastly, in di long summer days dem pick up di chairs & umbrella at 6pm no questions asked. It pricey an dem have a captured audience so yuh have little choice but to pay or not sit out on di beach. If dem can get dat fixed dem would be 5 stars all di way! Dat being said I highly recommend an we will be returning next year.

Our oceanfront king suite was HUGE, wid a great view. Double sliding doors opened up to our large balcony wid lounge chairs. It had a full size fridge as well as a mini fridge an kitchenette. Di view was great. 2 full bathrooms in our unit. Restaurant was delicious, we had several meals on-site. Breakfast buffet was well appointed an a good value for all dat was offered (including custom omelette, etc). Di gift shop was pricey, but had a nice selection of clothing an jewelry an souvenirs for children. Dere are 2 pools, including an adult-only pool. Di grounds immaculate- dere were several people working on grounds maintenance to keep di plants an paths looking great. Di beach is private, smooth, an accessible. Di hotel is located near di port, so yuh can watch cruise ships slowly come in an out. Location (wid a vehicle) is excellent- just minutes to las olas blvd activity, restaurants, shops, etc, but di hotel itself is set apart an very private. It was great for just my husband an I to have a relaxing time, but would also be well suited for families- pickleball/tennis, pool, mini golf, volleyball, etc. an great beach for playing on. Many hotels in Lauderdale may seem like dem beachfront, but many have a road in between, or are located on di strip where dere is noise an tourists wandering di beaches. Dis property was proper beachfront, felt very private, quiet, an comfortable. Quick an easy to get to di airport. Wished di bedroom would have had ocean view (it was at di back of di unit wid an interior view). Di building exterior looks dated, but is clean an well-kept. Minor noise from di airplanes above (flight path)
