Viva Fortuna Beach by Wyndham, A Trademark All Inclusive

We had an amazing time. All of the different activities kept us busy all day. The beach and outside ground was beautiful. The sand is soft and the water is calm enough to enjoy snorkeling and paddle boarding. All the staff were very kind and helpful rather is was finding our way around the different activities or getting a taxi to the Market. The rooms were a bit outdated and very basic. We did not spend much time in the room so was not a issue but if you are looking for a new modern room this might not be the place for you.

Hotel is dated. Staff friendly but not helpful. First day, no washcloths or soap in shower, 2nd day, 2 washcloths and 1 hand towel. 3rd & 4day no hand towels or washcloths. Ran out of beach towels daily. Beach is beautiful, quiet, plenty of chairs. Ocean a bit rocky especially in some areas and you need to watch your step. Alot of seaweed on the beach. The 3rd day they finally cleaned it off. Food was ok. Nice to have beer on tap that you can help yourself. They gave us two bottles of water in our room but after that no more. Remember to bring your own water bottle. They only have small cups of water. If you want to fill your ice bucket you have to walk over to the bar. Not ideal. Time share rep will harass you if you are not part of of the timeshare. No elevators if on 2nd floor with luggage, no staff to help with luggage.

I read the mixed reviews and booked anyway. What a mistake. The place needs some serious maintenance and food hygiene lessons. The good: the reception staff and luggage staff were lovely. The beach is nice. Good convenience store on-site. The bad: - the soft furnishings in the rooms are covered in black mould stains, the pillows, mattress, sheets and cushions. I started in 1211 and moved to 1143, both just as bad. Under the sheets the mattresses are filthy. - The bedrooms are poor. They are shabby… anything metal is rusting , there are stains everywhere and poorly repaired damage. The walls are grubby. My patio door lock had been replaced by something you would have on a shed door. - the bathroom again is just shabby, the mirrors need replacing and grouting is full of scum and mould. - the buffet is covered in flies and wasps. Literally covered. - the evening music is like being in a nightclub and it goes on till 01:00am - no hiding from that ! - AC is only in the bedrooms, not in restaurant or reception etc. - I went to the gym. Decent treadmill and brilliant staff. The rest of the kit is old but functional , but NO A/C !!!! 30degC + and NO AC in the gym ! - no wonder no one goes there. Just a ceiling fan circulation warm air. I hit 2.5km on the treadmill and had to stop , it was so hot! I was only there one night and if there was availability anywhere else I would have checked out. I don’t know who is writing the good reviews but I found it awful. Don’t book , you’ve been warned !
