Hôtel Sarakawa

I spent two weeks at the Sarakawa - my four day business trip turned into a two week contract negotiation. I expect to come back. Best was the staff. Friendly and efficient. Second best were the amenities: incredible 50 meter pool, great gym (which they don’t seem to advertise), a 1 kilometer track for walking or jogging, 2 clay tennis courts, a 100 yard driving range, horseback riding, 3 great restaurants. Nice night club downstairs where you can make new friends Thursday-Sunday. Beautiful grounds. Great location. Close to downtown for shopping or working. Walking distance to two nice restaurants if you want to get out of the hotel - blue turtle with a beach vibe and Alt Munchen, French/German cuisine, one of the best in Lome. Rooms are big enough, and the sea facing rooms have large balconies. Safe and secure. The hotel fills up on weekends either Togolese and béninois families on day trips, which is also really nice. WiFi loses Internet connection about 10% of the time. When it works it works well, but if you need to work, buy a SIM card. It’s a beach front hotel but the beach is off limits unless you are escorted by a security guard. For ocean swimming better to head to Pure Plage for lunch and an afternoon on their cozy beach. Not a complaint about Sarakawa but it applies generally to Lome - nightlife begins well after midnight so if you’re on a business trip fuggedaboutit.

Really great facilities and location (the olympic size pool, the beach, the sport room, and the park around) but unfortunately a bit on the leg go side: everything is old and maintenance is not up to the standard of the hotel. The beach facilities are so let down that they no forbide going there (I did but had to insist). Also breakfast is not bad but clearly not what you would expect for an hotel who claim to be at the top. On the good they renovated the room wich are clean and good (except AC which work well but is very loud, obviously not replaced). Also the restaurant is expensive but food is good and is quiet. Really appreciated after a day in Lomé. If you want really top confort go for 4th February hotel, but for quite cheaper and with bigger pool and park to walk, Sarakawa is not a bad choice.

Great Olympic pool and nice building with restaurant and club inside. The staff is ok but they don’t smile. WiFi is ok. When the price would be kept at 80-100 euro per day that would be great and justified. After 3 days the price was raised to 200 euro per night which is an exaggeration for this quality and service. Anyway deal and satisfaction depends on the price and I was lucky to get good deal but understand people who complain because if you pay 200 Euro you would expect more. The breakfast was very good They burn the grass on the property which smelled and was little bit dangerous for the lungs, that was little bit not professional despite bad smell. More smile would be welcomed.
