Perfectly placed, luxurious stay
We enjoyed our time at this special hotel. After plenty of searching and looking at maps, we picked it for how close it is to all the major sights any first-time visitor to London would want to see. The room was tidy and comfy, staff were professional, and the overall vibe was lovely. This really set the mood for our stay. The lobby smelled nice with quality scented candles, and there’s a lovely sitting area and bar. Thoughtful touches like guest umbrellas at the entrance made exploring more enjoyable. Breakfast is a buffet with lots of options for all tastes and the food is top-notch. You’ll find everything for a full English, along with fresh breads, cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, cheeses, and salads. The breakfast room has carpet and comfy chairs, making it a nice spot for planning our day over a few cups of tea or coffee. The outside of the building is stunning, especially from the Thames; it looks like a castle. Very grand and impressive. If you like historical buildings or want that traditional old London feel, this hotel is perfect for you. Inside, you’ll see beautiful period details like marble walls and brass finishes, with common areas keeping that old-world charm. The rooms are modern with new comforts, like under-floor heating, large TV, and mood lighting controls. We chose the standard double room, and it was a bit small if you both have a suitcase plus carry-on bags, as there aren’t specific spots for luggage, but we managed. The bed was super comfy, and spending time in the room was cozy thanks to terry cotton robes, a coffee pod machine, and proper china teacups and saucers. Lovely. Location is fantastic. Our first morning was so easy – we walked just a few steps from the hotel doors to be right on the Thames, right across from the London Eye. A short stroll further and before we knew it, we were already at Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. The nearest tube station is Charing Cross, and it’s close to so many things – we walked almost everywhere. We found this to be the perfect starting point for first-time London visitors and highly recommend it for travellers wanting easy access to all the essential sights, but without the crowds or tourist traps. Comfortable, classy, and excellent value. We’ll stay again!
Great spot - aging in places, but good value.
Hotel is in a nice spot, central but very quiet. There were a few issues with the building. I had a top floor room and there was clearly a leak at some point from the sloped wall/roof with the paint bubbling and peeling in the corner. The carpets are getting old, with a big stain in the separate sitting area of my deluxe king room. The corridor had a damp smell on my floor. There was a large container in one of the corridors to catch dripping water, explaining the smell. Fine once away from there, but it might have been unpleasant if you were in a nearby room. Otherwise, the room was good. Spacious, clean, well-kept bathroom with no hint of mildew anywhere. Breakfast was a letdown. The orange juice was terrible, undrinkable. The apple juice was watery. In a hotel of this standard, I really expected better. There was no dried fruit to go with the available muesli/granola/yogurt. The hot food buffet was decent. The breakfast is passable and definitely edible, but not something I would look forward to. For the price I paid, I was satisfied, not too different from much less spacious, lower quality hotels for the night I stayed. If I had paid the premium price this hotel often charges, I would not have been happy. But at the right prices, it was good.
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, just what I needed.
The property is stunning and has its own history which I found fascinating. Convenient location and it felt safe as a single female traveler. Loved waking up to sunshine over the London Eye too! I could only stay one night and didn’t get to check out the hotel amenities to really experience everything.
