From Viking longships to sovereign wealth, the spirit of Norge endures
Norway's Government Pension Fund Global is the world's largest sovereign wealth fund, exceeding $1.7 trillion. Funded by North Sea oil since 1996, every Norwegian citizen is technically a millionaire through this collectively owned national treasure. A beacon of fiscal responsibility.
From the 8th to 11th century, Norse explorers sailed to Iceland, Greenland, and North America 500 years before Columbus. The Oseberg ship (834 AD) and Gokstad ship remain among humanity's finest maritime artifacts. Viking heritage flows through every Norwegian fjord.
Since 1901, Norway awards the Nobel Peace Prize from Oslo City Hall. This unique honour makes Norway the guardian of global peace recognition. Winners from Martin Luther King Jr. to Malala Yousafzai received their prizes on Norwegian soil.
Norway's UNESCO-listed fjords are millions of years of glacial art. Sognefjord stretches 204 km inland, plunging 1,308 meters deep. Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord are World Heritage treasures that draw millions seeking nature's grandest masterpieces.
Constitution Day (May 17) is Norway's greatest celebration. Children's parades fill every town with bunad costumes and brass bands. Unlike most national days, Norway celebrates with children, not military — a uniquely peaceful tradition since the 1814 constitution at Eidsvoll.
Norwegians say they are 'born with skis on their feet.' With 405+ Winter Olympic medals — more than any nation — Norway dominates winter sports. From Holmenkollen (1892) to Birkebeinerrennet, skiing is national identity and ancient Norse transport.

Kraften i norsk stolthet — målt i fakta
Two nations connected through sacrifice and maritime innovation
During the Korean War (1951-1954), Norway sent NORMASH — the Norwegian Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. 623 Norwegian medical personnel treated over 90,000 patients, both military and civilian. Korea awarded NORMASH the Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary service.
Diplomatic ties since 1959, Norwegian shipping giants like Wallenius Wilhelmsen and DNV operate in Korean waters. Samsung and Hyundai are household names in Norway. Both nations share deep commitment to maritime industries, sustainable energy, and arctic research.
