Paradisus by Meliá Bali

Melia is a large resort with very open spaces in traditional Balinese decoration and beautifully landscaped gardens between the villas, the beach and reception, very much reminding of Hawaii, like we were on the Ka’anapali coast of Maui. Yes, longer distances to walk but that gives longer time to enjoy the gardens so if that’s not a plus for you, keep in mind. Rooms are a combination or modern bathroom with chrome and glass (towards bedroom) and Balinese timber, the central aircon can be noisy but they called technicians to clean it for us and it went much more quiet. We got upgrade to junior suite with lagoon access which was a larger room as well as opening to shared lagoon. The resort is quiet, even though the beach bar has live music every night, it cannot be heard at the rooms. Beach bar has such an awesome vibe, we have been coming there previously from other resorts as well, so it’s a must if you stay. Food is great, however portions are smaller so it makes it slightly expensive. Other consideration is that some guest will do all inclusive but it did not really creat crowds for us to get drinks or food, just wondered if portion sizes went down due to that.

We visited the hotel for 7 days with small children. We had All Inclusive and the Level Benefits booked. First of all the whole staff is always in each second very friendly and courteous! Our kids enjoyed the Kids Club every day with a lot of activities. The staff there was always looking for the kids! I really appreciated it. The food was always great. Especially the Japanese Restaurant I can recommend to visit. The hotel is having 5 different restaurant for dinner. The hotel is providing bicycles as Level Guest 1h free per day. You can do a lot of activities around the hotel. Inside of the Hotel is a huge garden area with some fish, gees and ducks. Close to the hotel is the Bali collection where you can go eating or shopping. You can also get their cash if you search for a ATM. In the Hotel itself you can rent a motorcycle or trips to some hotspots. For the trips you also can ask some taxi driver around the Hotel which is much cheaper. In general i would recommend to organize your Airport Transfer directly with some Taxi driver. It’s definitely cheaper as the Transfer organized by the Hotel. The Hotel is having a nurse and the doctor is visiting the Hotel regularly, just in a case. Unfortunately there is one point which is not connected to the Hotel and this is the sea and the beach. To be honest I was disappointed of both in front of this hotel. Who is looking for a clear sea should maybe check the pictures and videos before traveling. The sea and the beach was better e.g. in front of the Westin or Sofitel. In general i can highly recommend this Hotel.

Positive: - Location is great - Garden area with the ducks & fish is great for kids - Breakfast staff & kids club staff were friendly and nice - Kids club activities were awesome, and there were outdoor & indoor area which is great. - My daughter lost her doll in the kids club, and we got it back in lost & found Negative: - Checkin took more than 40 mins - Beach was a bit dirty compared to the other hotels next door (dec22 when i visited this area it was not like this) - Bathtub was super slippery, shower’s combined with the bathtub, which was dangerous especially for older people, it’s dangerous to get into the tub. - Our room door knob was broken, we couldn’t get in, engineering staff had to get into the room through the balcony window (like literally they had to take the window off from the frame) which took forever, it was already 9pm, my sleeping 4yo & i had to wait at the restaurant, there was not even an apology from the hotel. And afterwards, I had to ask for the housekeeping to clean the room myself. For a 5star hotel, i think the service should be much better than this. - Breakfast variety was only ok, there were no sashimi, however the waffle & oatmeal tastes great - Pina colada from the bar was horrible, couldn’t drink it at all, because it was super bitter
