Good hotel with a few problems
Nice hotel that is slowly showing aging in its style. Good warm shower. Bed is on rollers, so its not possible to sit on the bed to read leaning against the wall because the bed rolls away and you with it! OUTSTANDING service in every part of the hotel from reception to room cleaning to laundry. I liked this hotel. Only two problems: 1) the wifi is terrible. Each room has it's own server; my computer sometimes couldn't find my room server 6 feet away! Even using other better room servers (I learned how to connect in), the wifi was amazingly slow. They need a new company to provide service or put in new servers in every room. 2) The breakfast has good variety but is quite tasteless (except of the one daily Indian/Nepali dish). No salt or pepper put on or other spices. Could be meals are bland to meet the needs of guests from every part of the world, which is understandable.

Good Location with Spacious Garden, Friendly & Helpful Staff f
This is not my first time staying at the Mall Hotel, Kathmandu. I came back and will come back for various reasons - location, affordability, friendly & helpful staff, as well as their spacious green and well taken care garden-open space. The new attraction is that there is a building right in their front compound that housed a nice cafe and also local Nepali spread. The touristy Thames areas is just around the corner and the Hotel is easily reached within 30-mins from the Airport.

The property was very close to the bustle and busy activity and night life of Thamel, which is the most vibrant part of Kathmandu. The hotel has its own dedicated grounds which allow for easy access into and out of Thamel area. The property has much of the basic necessities that a good hotel should have, including gym, spa and beauty services, bar and restaurant, and a solid complimentary breakfast station with eggs and waffle stations. The age of the property is showing and has some loose fixtures, including plug points and drawers/shelves. The property has a large courtyard that caters to parties late through the night, especially during the Dec-Jan season which is the wedding season. The gym is not very well equipped and equipment appears heavily used and aged. The gym is also quite tightly packed with the spa services area.
