Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo

Sparkling hotel. We paid extra for the premier grand level with lounge which was definitely worth it. Room bigger with exclusive elevator access. Lounge very nice with free drinks and buffet daily with great views. Access continued to the sky lounge until 10:00. Room looked out to the government buildings with nightly light show. Staff very attentive and polite. Nice tub/shower combo. Made to order eggs and both Asian and western options. Easy walking access to Keio train station so you can go anywhere in Tokyo or by bullet train. Lounges could stay open later.

Must be very popular in Europe as I met with a lot of European tourists who came from Italy, Germany, Spain… Most travelers come with kids (young or old). To and from airport: airport limousine bus service is the main reason I stay in this hotel. Save me a lot of trouble as I travel with a lot of luggage. Front desk: speak fluent English. Concierge: a big help in making restaurant reservations. Guest room in south tower: 1) excellent view of Mt Fuji and the Metropolitan government building (fabulous light show every evening) 2)room is spacious even with three twin beds 3)shower has strong water pressure. Bathroom comes with all necessary amenities. Dining:, Jurin: Japanese set breakfast: excellent. Must try. Buffet breakfast : good. the soft ice cream is very popular among kids. glass court: Breakfast is good. I like the Japanese food particularly the homemade tofu. Dinner at Kagari (Japanese cuisine): We were all very impressed with the food and the presentation. Staff are very thoughtful and friendly. Location: it’s ten minutes walk from shinjuku JR station. Hotel is situated right above the 都庁前 metro Station. However there will still be a lot walking from hotel lobby to the metro platform. Neighborhood: There is a 7-11 convenience store on 2nd floor. There is a family mart and a Lawson convenience store around the corner. A pharmacy (Daikoku drug store) is just two blocks away.

I booked this stay on the last leg of our Japan trip. Its a given that hotel rooms are small in Tokyo, but this one at least had room for us to open two suitcases at the same time! Please note that this room was really a twin bed room with a sofa bed. I am not ready to give this hotel 5 stars on the facilities since although there was advertised "washer dryer facilities", there were only 4 machines to service the entire tower. Im not sure if there was a different bank of washer/dryers for the south tower. Anyway, I was lucky to get a machine since there were people vying actively for machines when i went there. The saving grace of this property was that there was no walking to get to the Airport limo bus - the bus stop was literally out the door and 2 meters to the right. Helpful when you have many suitcases! It might have been easier to get to the hotel if there was a clear map on how to get there from Shinjuku station. At the moment, there are major renovations/redevelopments going on so even if you are familiar with the area, the redirection signs are somewhat confusing. of course, you cant always rely on google maps either. All in all though, I am happy with the room that we are given, which felt clean - even though the carpets looked abit worn and dirty in places. Otherwise, a pleasant stay and enjoyed the location of this hotel.
