Oasis in the Busy and Noisy City – First Hotel with Truly Great Value!
Stayed at Hotel Yak & Yeti during a recent trip to Kathmandu, and it truly felt like an oasis amid the chaos of the city. Kathmandu can be overwhelming with traffic, noise, and crowds everywhere, but once you step into the hotel grounds, it's a completely different world—lush gardens, a serene pond with ducks and turtles, beautiful heritage architecture, and peaceful walking paths that make you forget you're in the heart of Durbar Marg.
The location is perfect: central enough for easy access to shopping, restaurants, and major attractions, yet tucked away on a quieter street so street noise doesn't disturb your rest. Rooms are comfortable, spacious, and clean (though some bathrooms feel a bit dated), with good amenities like strong Wi-Fi and comfy beds. Breakfast buffet is varied and delicious—plenty of options to start the day right.
What impressed me most is the value for money—this is the first hotel in Nepal where I felt I got true luxury (5-star heritage feel, excellent staff hospitality, pool, gym, and multiple dining options) without paying an arm and a leg. Staff are friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile.
Highly recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing base in bustling Kathmandu. Will definitely stay again!
Lovely stay at the Yak & Yeti Kathmandu
My wife and I had stayed at the Yak & Yeti Kathmandu in Sept 1984.
Exactly 41 years later we again visited Kathmandu and stayed here.
The hotel was outstanding in 1984 and it is outstanding in 2025 !
The staff without exception are welcoming and helpful. The rooms are excellent and the gardens and lake are a fairy tale setting.
When the staff heard it was our 41 wedding anniversary they immediately arranged and cake and joined us for the celebration!
This in my mind is one of the best located, one of the best standard and definitely one of the most welcoming hotels I have stayed in .
Be careful about laundry services
We used laundry services and some items got tiny holes after it’s finished. One T-shirts was actually new but got a hole remarkably, so cannot use anymore. We didn’t expect so much about Nepal hotel standard, but it was disappoint because it was not so cheap. Other than that, hotel staff was very kind, friendly, and professional. Especially JHAPAD at the breakfast venue is amazing, he was very helpful and his making coffee is the best. But just only Landry services was so disappointed. Not recommend to use it unless it’s really necessary.
