Perfektlie situatit, luxurious stay
We loved our time at this very special hotel.
Aft a guid bit o research an map studyin, we chose it fur its closeness tae aw the major landmarks that ony first-time visitor tae London will want tae see.
The room wis clean an comfortable, the staff are professional, an the overall ambience is lovely. This really set the tone o our stay. The lobby is fragrant wi quality scented candles, an there’s a lovely sittin room an bar. Thoughtful touches like guest umbrellas at the entrance made fur a mair pleasant explorin.
Breakfast is a buffet wi plenty o choice fur aw tastes an the produce is guid quality. Ye’ll find aw the makings fur a full English, as weel as fresh breads, cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, cheeses an salads. The breakfast room is carpeted an has comfortable chairs, sae it wis a pleasant space fur mapping oot our itinerary ower a few tea or coffee refills.
The buildin exterior is gobsmackin, especially when viewed frae the Thames; it’s like a castle. Very grand an impressive. If ye enjoy historical buildins or ye’re seekin a traditional auld London feel, then this hotel is fur ye.
Inside, ye’ll find splendid period details like marble walls an brass finishes, wi common areas retainin auld-world charm.
The rooms are modern wi new comforts, like under-floor heatin, large TV, an mood lightin controls. We opted fur the standard double room an it wis slightly on the small side if ye each have a suitcase plus carry-on bags, as there are nae distinct spots/surfaces intended fur luggage but we made do. We found the bed tae be very comfortable an spendin time in the room wis cosy thanks tae terry cotton dressin gowns, a coffee pod machine, an proper china teacups an saucers. Lovely.
The location is fantastic. Our first mornin wis sae easy – we walked only a few metres frae the hotel doors tae be right on the Thames, right across frae the London Eye. A short stroll further an before we knew it, we were already at Big Ben an Westminster Abbey.
The closest tube station is Charing Cross an it’s close tae sae many things – we walked almost everywhere.
We found this tae be the perfect jumpin off point fur first-time London visitors an recommend it highly fur travellers who want easy access tae aw the essential sights, but without the crowds or tourist traps.
Comfortable, classy an excellent value. We’ll stay again!
Perfekt location - aging in places, but guid at the richt price.
The hotel is in a guid location, central but very quiet. There were a few issues wi the buildin. I had a top floor room an there was obviously a leak at some point frae the slopped wall/roof wi the paint bubblin an peelin in the corner. The carpets are aging, wi a large stain in the separate sittin room o my deluxe king room.
The corridor smelt damp/fusty on my floor. There was a large container in one o the corridors tae collect drippin water, explainin the smell. Fine once away frae there, but it may have been unpleasant if ye were stayin in a nearby room.
Otherwise the room was guid. Spacious, clean, well maintained bathroom wi nae hint o mildew anywhere.
Breakfast was disappointin. The orange juice was disgusting, undrinkable. The apple juice was watery. In a hotel o this standard I really expected better. There was nae dried fruit tae go wi the available muesli/granola/yoghurt. The hot food buffet was guid. The breakfast is passable an definitely edible, but nae somethin I would look forward tae.
Fur the price I paid I was happy, nae dissimilar tae much less spacious, lower quality hotels fur the night I stayed. If I had paid the premium price this hotel frequently charges I would nae have been happy. But at the richt prices it was guid.
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, perfect fur whit I needed.
The property is beautiful an has its ain history which I was very interested in. Convenient location an it felt safe as a single female traveler. Loved wakin up tae sunshine ower the London Eye too! I could only stay one night an didn’t get tae explore the hotel amenities tae really experience everything.
