🐎

Ahalteke — The Heavenly Horse

The Akhal-Teke is one of the oldest and most beautiful horse breeds on Earth, bred for 3,000+ years in the Karakum Desert. Known as "golden horses" for their metallic sheen, they can travel 70km/day without water. Alexander the Great's Bucephalus was likely Akhal-Teke. The horse is Turkmenistan's national emblem and appears on the state seal and currency.

🏛️

Merv — Silk Road Jewel

Ancient Merv (Mary) was once the world's largest city, with over 500,000 inhabitants in the 12th century. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Merv was a key Silk Road hub connecting China to Rome. Its libraries rivaled Baghdad's. Sultan Sanjar's mausoleum dome was visible from a day's journey away. Merv represents Central Asia's golden age of learning and trade.

🔥

Darvaza — Gateway to Hell

The Darvaza gas crater, burning since 1971, is a 70m-wide flaming pit in the Karakum Desert. Originally a Soviet drilling accident, it became Turkmenistan's most famous landmark. The "Door to Hell" burns day and night, visible for kilometers. It attracts adventurous tourists from worldwide and symbolizes Turkmenistan's vast natural gas reserves — the 4th largest on Earth.

🧶

Turkmen Carpet — Living Art

Turkmen carpets are among the world's finest. Each tribe (Teke, Yomut, Saryk, Ersari, Chodor) has unique patterns — guls — that serve as tribal identifiers. The five carpet guls appear on Turkmenistan's national flag, the only flag in the world featuring carpet designs. A single handwoven Turkmen carpet can take years to complete and last centuries.

Natural Gas — 4th Largest Reserves

Turkmenistan holds the world's 4th largest natural gas reserves, including the Galkynysh field — the 2nd largest gas field on Earth. The country supplies gas across Central Asia and to China via the longest pipeline in the world (1,833km). Natural gas gives Turkmenistan free electricity, gas, water, and salt for all citizens — a unique economic model.

🏙️

Aşgabat — White Marble Capital

Ashgabat holds the Guinness World Record for the highest density of white marble buildings. The futuristic capital, rebuilt after a devastating 1948 earthquake, features gleaming marble towers, gold-domed palaces, and the world's largest indoor Ferris wheel. The city's transformation from ruins to marble wonderland is one of the most dramatic urban stories in modern history.

✦ Türkmenistan we Koreýa 🇰🇷

Two nations connected through energy and growing partnership

Energy Partnership — Gas & Construction

Korean companies like Hyundai Engineering and LG International have major projects in Turkmenistan, particularly in the energy sector. Korean construction firms built key infrastructure including the Galkynysh gas processing plant. South Korea imports Central Asian energy resources and sees Turkmenistan as a strategic partner in diversifying energy supply chains.

Diplomatic Ties — Central Asian Bridge

Korea and Turkmenistan established relations in 1992 after independence. Korean electronics and automobiles are popular in Ashgabat.
