Hotel Presidente Luanda

Gym: One of the best hotel gyms I've experienced! The only thing missing is a leg curl capable machine but it has an well considered selection of machines, decent weights selection and cardio machines. I didn't try the hamam (steam room) or dry sauna. Breakfast: Great breakfast in a restaurant with sweeping harbour views. Rooms: Rooms were better than expected. My room was carpeted while that of a colleague was not so there seems to be that option (although I don't know if you can choose at the point of booking or check in or whether it's luck of the draw). Air-conditioning worked a bit too well and I couldn't figure out how to increase the temperature. Location: Convenient location for my needs but not a very lively part of town. Welcome: The reception area is shocking (warm and somewhat claustrophobic) but don't let that put you off. The hotel is pretty good. Bed: The bed was a little soft for my liking but far from bad and definitely not "too soft". I slept so well that after 6 nights, I was looking for the bed's brand. Room amenities: They didn't replace the tea bags/coffee sachets in the room so I had to hunt for teabags mid-afternoon/early evening for my tea. Location: During the day, you can hear the sounds of the city but it's not too bothersome. At night it's so much quieter that it's no bother at all. No/few restaurants nearby. Connectivity: Internet was patchy but speeds sufficient for work purposes including video calling

The hotel is very charming and well located. The staff was also very welcoming. The breakfast could have more variety of food, but overall, it was great to be there.
