Beautiful, large room. Exceptionally comfortable bed Location; CBD Auckland is a bit dodgy these days

Really appreciated how amazingly close the hotel location was for Britomart/central bus hub/tour pickups and right in the middle of all the action at end of Queen St. Great restaurants, the wharf, and even a mid-size grocery nearby. Room was clean and stylish; staff and in-house restaurant were consistently great. Definitely recommend.

Emailed the hotel to request two rooms that were not next to each other for privacy reasons. When we arrived, we were told that they met our request and put the rooms side by side (?). When the error was pointed out, we were told that one room would be upgraded from a king size bed to a queen size bed in a larger room. The room was smaller along with the bed so a bit surprised at what the "upgrade" was. The cleaning of the room was mixed as there was a beer bottle cap behind the trash can when we arrived and seemed to be fairly superficial cleaning at times. While this review may come across as negative, our stay at the hotel was good overall. The staff responded to any requests swiftly and were unfailingly polite. The hotel restaurant (Cookes) was a highlight. The service was impeccable and the meals delicious. The location can't be beaten and we are not opposed to staying here again.
